Max Fischer on your TV! Semi-permanently!

Jason Schwartzman played Max Fischer in Rushmore, my favorite movie of all time.

He also made one of my favorite records.

He’s a friend of this blog and always will be, even if I never get to tell him so.

Here’s some fresh news about Jason from the Hollywood Reporter:

Jason Schwartzman cast in HBO pilot

And here’s some relevant info:

Jason Schwartzman has been tapped as the lead in HBO’s comedy pilot “Bored to Death,” lifting the contingency on the project.
The Jonathan Ames-penned “Bored” centers on Jonathan (Schwartzman), a struggling thirtysomething writer with a drinking problem in Brooklyn who, following a painful breakup with his girlfriend, decides to emulate his heroes from the novels of Raymond Chandler and Dashiell Hammett. He takes out an ad pretending to be a private detective and starts taking cases — solving some and making others worse.

Nice.

I can totally see him doing this.

So, who’s got HBO? And can I come over? I’ll bring a baked spaghetti pie and a 12-pack of Pepsi.
