Jessica Biel is in talks to play Wonder Woman

Update:

She passed on it. Read all about it here.

_______________

Variety is reporting that Jessica Biel is in talks to play Wonder Woman in director George Miller’s Justice League movie which, if everything goes according to Warner Bros.’s ill-advised plan to rush this massive thing into production too quickly, will debut in the summer of 2009.

The Justice League, of course, is the DC Comics super team of Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and others including, but not limited to, The Flash, Green Lantern, Aquaman and Martian Manhunter.

I’m working on a huge article about all the rumors and news connected to this project. In the meantime, the indomitable Bill Ramey over at Batman on Film has an excellent summary of the rumors and news thus far. You can read it right here.

As for Jessica Biel, I like her a lot. She’s beautiful and athletic. She also demonstrated much grace, poise and strength opposite Ed Norton in The Illusionist.

Will she get the part?

Or will this movie even be made in the first place?

We’ll have to wait and see.

Hopefully we’ll hear soon who’s going to play Superman and Batman. And Wonder Woman, too, for that matter, given that Biel hasn’t actually signed anything.

That we know of.

If the movie even happens in the first place.

More news as it happens.

(Batman won’t be Christian Bale, but that’s okay. Can you seriously see the Batman from Batman Begins hopping in a rocket ship with Green Lantern to go fight aliens and robots? It doesn’t fit. Make it different. Keep it separate. Make something big and bright and colorful and fun that kids of all ages can enjoy.)
